The 40 year plus search for the best way to reconstruct the ACL continues as new studies show that quadriceps grafts are no better than the alternatives. I was just down in New Orleans at the Arthroscopy Association of North America and I listened to the paper. Using the Kaiser Medical database, which has a fairly captive audience, they showed that there isn’t an advantage to quad ACL grafts over patellar tendon. The limitations to this study is that there were many surgeons and they did not standardize technique.
