Skier Tim’s BEAR® Implant Comeback Story

Skier Tim's BEAR® Implant Comeback Story

Tim Braun is an experienced downhill skier with over 47 years of skiing without any injuries. Unfortunately, he suddenly tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the winter 2023 ski season. Despite this injury, he was determined to return to the sport he loves as quickly as possible.

Luckily, Tim’s son is a physical therapist and familiar with various ACL surgery methods. He introduced Tim to the BEAR® Implant. Tim chose to proceed with this option, and I was his surgeon. In this article, Tim shares why he chose the BEAR Implant, how his rehab process went, and—best of all—his recent return to skiing.

I love sharing stories like this because they help people understand their different options, why a patient chose one method over another, and what rehab is like (at least for this patient, everyone is a little different).
