Physio profiles 13 elite athletes to explore the physical and mental toll of ACL injuries

Pop, when sports brings us to our knees - ACL injuries

It’s hard to believe that someone wrote a whole book about recovering from ACL injuries. However, as anyone familiar with this injury knows, it is a devastating injury whether you are 14 or 44.

The author of  the book: “Pop, When sports brings us to our knees” is an Australian physiotherapist who treats sports injuries. She interviewed 13 athletes after their ACL injury and surgery and states:  “If it’s done well with your rehab, you can still be surrounded by your team and have all that support, but definitely, the mental side of it is huge because it’s such a long injury, and it takes you away from what you love for a year if you have surgery.”
